Has Sprint Sprung?
by: -- 'The Rab,' G.R.

With apologies to blondes, I share the following. Spring had arrived, and one young blonde could wait no longer. She’d purchased a boat at a sale during the holidays and just had to go out on the water and try it out. After putting the boat in at the lake, she cranked it up. The sound of that new engine was awesome to her! But when she attempted to head out into the lake and take it for a spin, the boat wouldn’t cooperate. She checked this. She checked that. Nothing worked. It would barely move. In frustration she decided to try and get it to the marina about seventy-five yards away. That short trip seemed to take forever, but finally she made it. Going inside she explained her dilemma, and quickly one of the guys working there came outside to check the problem. He examined all the normal things one would use in getting a boat, especially a new one, to run, but he soon discovered he wasn’t getting anywhere either. Finally, he figured there must be some problem underneath the boat, so he jumped in the water and discovered the problem. She’d forgotten to unhitch the boat from the trailer! Surely spring can’t be here, can it? And, yet, it is. Did I miss something or not? What happened to wintertime? No snow in ‘07? No ice (really to speak of) in ’07? Why, I almost feel shortchanged. I’m a mind to discuss this with my Father in heaven, but…I (down deep) know better’n to even try that stunt! [PSALM 104; DANIEL 2:20-21a] Whatever’s happening about us may, at times, have something tp do with us humans, but the Bible tells us, in the end, God is in control of this world-and all that’s in it. That’s not to say I, as a person or part of some group, shouldn’t be concerned about the world about me. To the contrary, I should be very concerned. In some way I’m intertwined with it through all my life on this side of ‘glory.’ It is my responsibility to tend to it and help take care of it, just as much as it was for my predecessors. [GENESIS 1:27-31] Still, I’d selfishly would’ve liked to have had about an inch of the white stuff. I don’t suppose I’ll ever get to use that sled I bought back in February of 1982, right after a big snow and ice storm in central Mississippi. Looks like I’ll ‘rust out’ before it does! In recognizing that (it seems) spring is just about here, I’m reminded of a matter I want to remind you of again. Our annual Baptist Men’s golf tournament is just around the corner. Saturday, April 14th, is the scheduled date with it being held at The Refuge on ‘Airport Road’ in Flowood. Donnie Thomas has placed informational papers on it in the church (check table in ‘what we call’ our vestibule hallway by the worship center), and I’d encourage you to take one or two. If it’s possible, sponsor a gold cart or a hole as well as play in the tournament. We truly need-and appreciate-your support! As usual, our guys will go somewhere in the nation and help a small church with some building project it is facing. And, guys, we’d certainly ‘welcome’ our guests and newer members (18 y.o. up) to prayerfully consider going along with us. If the tournament’s successful again, you’ll incur little cost yourselves. At the least we can get the blonde’s trailer and haul you along!
